Spanish violist, improviser and performer Jacobo Díaz Robledillo (Ávila 1993), is the viola and co-founder of Fabrik Quartet, an it was an IEMA 2021/2022 scholarship Holder. He was also supported for his solo project by Deutscher Musikrat “Neue Start Kultur” founding.
Jacobo collaborates often in orchestras and ensembles such as Ensemble Modern, Klangforum Wien, Schallfeld Ensemble, Stuttgarter Kammerorchester, Württembergisches Kammerorchester Heilbronn, Davos Festival Camerata, Ensemble Risonanze Erranti, Ensemble Horizonte, Grafenegg Academy Orchestra, Ostrava New Orchestra, Detmolder Kammerorchester, playing under the batons of such conductors as Stefan Asbury, Bas Wiegers, Pierre Bleuse, Ustina Dubitsky, Vimbayi Kaziboni, Chloé Dufresne, Lucas Vis, Johannes Kalitzke, Ingo Metzmacher, Holly Hyun Choe, Lautaro Mura and Francesc Prat.
His interest in contemporary music gave him the opportunity to work with composers such as Enno Poppe, Rebecca Saunders, Alberto Posadas, Kaija Saariaho, Diego Jimenez Tamame.
With Fabrik Quartet he appeared in international festivals such Darmstädter Ferienkurse, ENSEMS in Valencia… Also with the quartet they played as soloist with the HR Sinfonieorchester, closing Darstädter Ferienkurse 2023.
Jacobo has participated in various festivals to perform solo and with ensembles such as Festival Manifeste, Wittener Tage für Neue Kammermusik, Grafenegg Festival, Gaudeamus Muziekweek, Lucerne Festival, Time of Music Festival, Klangspuren Schwaz Tiroler Festival für Neue Musik, Davos Festival Young Artists in Concert, Ostrava Days Festival, Allegro Vivo Festival.
He studied his Bachelor degree at the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu with Prof. Ashan Pillai. Following his studies in Barcelona, he moved to Germany to study Master Solist program at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold with Prof. Veit Hertenstein. Currently he is studying with Fabrik Quartet the Chamber Music Konzertexam with Lucas Fels. Additionally he has attended solo and chamber music masterclasses with Nobuko Imai, Garth Knox, Irvine Arditti, Geneviève Strosser, Donald McInnes, Peijun Xu, Lucas Fels, Arditti Quartet and Casals Quartet.
